"Business Traveler"

Sanctuary for Business Travelers
"There seems to be an unwritten rule that business travelers do not stay in Bed & Breakfasts or Country Inns."
If your business takes you on the road regularly to the areas around Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Beech Mountain, Sugar Mountain, Linville, Boone, and The Blue Ridge Parkway, in the Western North Carolina High Country, The Mast Farm Inn hopes to make it worth your while and consideration to stay with us by offering you the following package when you are traveling alone on business. As business people ourselves who have spent innumerable days and nights doing what you are doing, we feel we owe it to our colleagues to make it different. The human and financial advantages-benefits of staying at an Inn versus basking in one more hotel-motel's neon glow will be evident below, the evening at check-in, and in the morning at check-out. Primarily you will feel like a refreshed human being rather than like a towel which spent the night tossing in the dryer. Fresh towels are nice and we have plenty ourselves, fresh human beings are nicer.

There is a logic for staying at a hotel, but there is an equally compelling logic to stay in a more homelike environment. We believe if you give it some thought by reading what is below, you may well agree.

If we think about all that we could imagine that some of the primary reasons business travelers do not consider B&Bs and Small Family Run Inns are that:

a) B&Bs tend to be out of the way and sometimes hard to find. Many times they are in residential areas. We are very easy to find and pretty much centrally located to the areas of Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Beech Mountain, Sugar Mountain, Linville, Boone, and The Blue Ridge Parkway, in the Western North Carolina High Country. Our Inn is a few minutes off Highway 105, is a well known landmark, we light up the barn at night, and with GPS a no-brainer. Rather, think of us as a home away from home. We are pretty sure your home is not a few hundred yards from a highway exit, or in the middle of a downtown area. When we say we are ready, willing and able to be your home away from home, it is not advertising slogan, but a promise made by real people to real people.

b) Business travelers need to get in and out, sleep and be gone, they arrive late at night, leave early, and are not interested in socializing. At the Mast Farm Inn you do not even need to check in. We can leave you the key, and the cottage unlocked. One of the big pluses of village living is that we trust you. The package below provides you your time and space, but if you do want some company, you will find it a few yards away. You will also find our restaurant or Aunt Josie's open till 10 onsite in case you would like to eat, have a beer or glass of wine. You won't find quantity, but you will find quality because our lodging and dinner guests are real people like you and truthfully we have yet to meet a boring guest.

c) B&Bs are more expensive than the chains because breakfast is included in the price. It is true that breakfast is included, and we oursleves have paid, when all is said and signed, upwards of 30-50 dollars per person for a hot breakfast in many places we have stayed. It hurts but we were hungry. Effectively a full hot gourmet breakfast served at a table, with all food, beverages, and service included, costs us a pretty penny to serve. In fact breakfast at the Mast Farm Inn probably costs us slightly north of $35 per person. At least that is what accounting tells us. In B&Bs breakfast costs are usually calculated for two per room and the price of the room reflects that custom. The package we propose below takes into consideration that you are traveling alone and eliminates that added cost. The good news is that you will in fact get a serious breakfast the likes of which you probably only get on your birthday because at The Mast Farm Inn breakfast is a celebration of the country morning. We also offer the special rate below because it makes more efficient use of our facilities since weekday occupancy is lower than weekends. As a business person you know all about the realities of supply and demand.

d) B&Bs do not offer the business tools required such as high-speed internet, phone, fax, and photocopying machines. We have wireless high-speed internet but let's be blunt. Sometimes you may need to rest. In case you absolutely have to and it cannot wait, as business people we obviously have all those business tools ourselves, they are just not in the living room, and we are quite willing to help you get done what needs to be done. When you feel the serenity around you on arrival, you may just decide that your own rest is equally valuable to everyone.
