"First class all the way" ~ It was a birthday present for my boyfriend. A mountain trip away from the every day frenzy and schedules of normal life. We stayed in the blacksmith shop and our entire experience from our cottage to the breakfast and service was high class, unique, and extravagantly simple. The outside of our cottage looked old, like a photograph of an old barn on the side of a country road, the roof perfectly rusted. The inside was warm, a fire glowing in the corner, and fresh, new wood enveloping a very clean, loft style room. In our loft upstairs, there was a claw foot bathtub to accompany the shower and bathroom downstairs. We used it all. There was an old classic movie sitting in a basket w/ a bag of popped popcorn next to the remote. In the CD player was a mountain string band playing which we swapped out with the newest Norah Jones CD. The bed was soft, warm, big. And right next to the fireplace. Our breakfast the first morning was rich and sinful- chocolate, banana pancakes smothered in syrup w/ bacon and homemade hot chocolate . My boyfriend is a finicky eater and doesn't eat much (quantity or variety). He ate every bite. The 2nd morning, we elected to sleep in and missed our dining room breakfast. Waiting for us on the porch was a basket of homemade iced pumpkin muffins and homemade yogurt parfait. We had our own coffee "station" in our room w/ regular and decaf fresh beans which we would grind ourselves for the freshest coffee. It was just like being at home, only better b/c we weren't. Across the street from our cottage was an old barn with horses and refurbished Porsches. It was too cool a scene to really describe well. Some other guests found the carrot stash and we helped them offer up the carrots to the horse and donkey...a little girl fed the rabbits too. It was sad leaving. We will certainly be back. I will recommend this Inn to anyone and everyone I know.

“Beautiful Setting, Amenities Galore, 5-Star Service without Pretense” ~ We traveled to the Mast Farm Inn for a 4-day "mini-moon" We stayed in the Granary and it was so lovely. The staff were so friendly and funny during the emailed-reservation process, that by the time we arrived we felt that we were staying with old friends. Albeit friends that had a sprawling home, wonderfully renovated outbuildings and a gourmet chef who loves local ingredients. This is a leisurely, serene sort of place where you can also find adventure. I spent an afternoon in our house reading and napping on the cozy leather couch in front of the wood stove. When I awoke, I fed apples and carrots (graciously provided by one of the grounds staff) to the farm's resident burro and horse. The next day we rented a convertible Porsche from the inn. They also provided a picnic and directions to some lovely scenic drives. The near-by Blue Ridge Parkway also made for some glorious scenery. That day ended with a wonderful soak in our huge whirlpool tub watching classic movies of which the inn has MANY in their library. I definitely want to come back and I will! Perhaps a weekend of cooking classes and ghost stories with girlfriends? I can't emphasize enough the quality of service. From the owners to the housekeepers, these folks are friendly, down-to-earth, and genuinely interested in how you are doing and how they can make things that much better! Go, go, go!

And please let me compliment you on your attention to detail, of which this is an example--it is because of touches like this that the Mast Farm Inn is such a wonderful place. "Disconnect to reconnect" ~ I just wanted to drop a note and tell you how much we enjoyed staying at The Inn this weekend. The absence of the phone, cable, internet and most of the cell phone service, was so refreshing. I've experienced this many times before on camping trips (which I dearly love) but to have the girls around and them be happy campers was so much more better. It was an eye opening experience to these modern day distractions, that we sometimes call necessities (though they aren't really) and how they take precious time away from us to interact with those things of life that we should cherish the most, our family. The food was superb and the service as well. Your staff spoke very highly of having the opportunity to work for such a wonderful family as yours. It was very good to get to share time with your family, getting to meet Sandra, Danielle and Marie, and seeing the love and devotion to service and happiness they afford the guests of your home. Thanks again for helping me to spend one of the best weekends with my family that I have had so far, to this point in life. I know it won't be the last one that we spend together at your place. “Wedding Heaven” ~ Came to the Mast Farm Inn in late August to find the perfect venue for a naturally elegant and organic wedding ceremony and party. Forty of the seventy guests also stayed at the Inn and everyone enjoyed their stay. The food was wonderful at breakfast, the BBQ and at the reception- all fresh, local ingredients. The bride and groom made the event personal and the management did everything they requested. The Friday night BBQ was at the Barn, the ceremony in the Meadow near the Watuaga River on Saturday evening, and the reception set amongst the historic cabins all decked out in globe string lights and one thousand origami cranes. A hundred candles glowed about and flowers from the local farmers' market were placed in a diverse collection of recycled jars. Guests were served local micro beers and wines along with Nehi soda pops from the Mast General Store. It was the perfect country wedding for city folks. It was a grand wedding weekend!

Dinner with you all was just perfect on Saturday.. You strike such a nice balance between serving fresh and local ingredients combined so creatively while serving it without taking yourselves too seriously. It makes for a most comfortable experience for your patrons. Thank you for all your attention, JH

“So Cozy! You will be "taken care of"!” ~ When you enter the Mast Farm Inn, you feel like you're home. The Staff is so warm and welcoming that we feel our experience was overall wonderful. We were in the Aunt Leona Room on the 3rd floor which was smallest of the rooms, but we did book at the last minute. The food is exceptional and I can say that because I am a Foodie at heart. Having coffee delivered to your room in the morning scores big with me, a morning caffeine addict. Now I am spoiled. So much better than that awful in-room coffee. We had no problem finding the Inn as reported in an earlier review. The house is historic so the steps may be an issue for some, but were well lit. The floor boards creek, but that is the charm of an older home. The decorating is great (I am an interior designer, perfect for the house and accommodations.) The location is beautiful although on a busy road. Deer could be spotted munching on the vegetable garden across the street in the evening. Relaxing, relaxing, relaxing. This is a first rate Inn. Pack light if your on the third floor. Help was offered to carry our luggage. I always pack too much, so I don't consider that a detriment or disadvantage. If you like total quiet, great food and top notch staff in a beautiful environment, stay here!!! No TV's!!! Beware if you just have to have TV!! Tons of restaurants close by...I don't know what all the fuss was about! Make sure you dine here at least one evening. Not cheap, but the quality of the food is exceptional. The Chef is great and so accommodating!

"Autumn Getaway" ~ We wanted somewhere to get away and recharge our batteries. Our stay in the Gazebo Cottage was just what we needed. The cottage was lovely, the gas stove cozy and the bed comfortable. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed listening to the Forget Me Nots on Friday evening. The weather was lovely and we enjoyed hiking around the property and visiting the rabbits. The food was marvelous .... slow cooking produces incredible results! We highly recommend it and plan to return again and again.

"Mast Farm Inn in November" ~ Very cozy B&B in Valle Crucis, NC. We were upgraded to the Blacksmith Shop cottage on account of a slower Fall weekend - it was great! Friendly and helpful staff, cozy and comfortable lodging, very good breakfast. Beautiful location in the pasture land of Valle Crucis, just around the bend from Mast General Store. A great, relaxing weekend. Thanks!

"Great Inn--Exceptional service" ~ A wonderful 3 night stay at Mast Farm Inn. The Blacksmith Shop where we stayed was quaint, comfortable and impeccably clean. The staff was uniformly helpful, and service oriented. We asked for ideas for places to go for trail running, hiking and bicycling and were steered in the perfect direction each time The food was outstanding. All in all a first rate stay. I don't know how they could have done any better.

"Much Needed Get-away" ~ What a wonderful weekend at the Mast Farm Inn! The room was so quaint and cozy. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent! It was hard to leave...

"Fabulous Getaway" ~ What a wonderful destination B&B. We enjoyed everything about our stay. The staff was helpful without being intrusive, the food was outstanding, the setting (rooms, gardens and surrounding country side) was beautiful, relaxing and fun. I would highly recommend the Mast Farm Inn as a place to get away and enjoy the company of someone you love or the peace of nature. Either way, you won't be disappointed.

"A stay packed with relaxation" ~ We stayed in one of the cabin's which was rustic and lovely. The hot tub was a plus, along with the bath robes (nice touch). The guest bag was nice along with the personalized letter, but to make it more intimate, you might want to add the breakfast menu (since breakfast is included) along with any/all activities going on in the are or at the Inn. The staff was wonderful; the food, good; the stay..wonderful; the colors.......amazing. Thank you! Raleigh, NC visitors

“Delightful change from the ordinary” ~ Our stay at the Mast Farm Inn was a delightful change from the many B&B's we've visited over the years. Our room was spacious with exquisite decor, including a very comfortable sitting area. The vegetable garden, rabbits, a pond available for fishing and a beautiful river nearby, along with the serene location made it very special. The staff (mostly family) is exceptional, breakfasts are outstanding ( early morning coffee delivered to our room ); every effort was made to make our visit comfortable and pleasurable. The Mast Farm Inn is a REAL WINNER!!!

"Wedding Party Group Initial stay at The Mast Farm Inn" ~ This was our first stay at The Mast Farm Inn. Our son was getting married in one of the oldest church's in the area but we had our accommodations and the luncheon at The Mast Farm Inn. OMG! what a luncheon it was. Excellent food & service. We enjoyed every minute we could soak up. We stayed at the Granary and enjoyed the horse and donkey show. The back porch with the rocking chairs and beautiful sunsets along with the rest of the wedding party. Sandra upgraded our family with an extra room at the Inn because of more family members attending unexpectedly. What a beautiful weekend. Thanks to everyone at The Mast Farm Inn the weekend was breathtaking!

"Wonderful stay" ~ My boyfriend and I stayed in the Woodwork Shop cottage. It was better than I even imagined. We walked into a cozy setting with soft lighting and soft Irish music playing in the background. There were so many beautiful touches. Quilts, a claw foot tub, the charming loft upstairs. All this made for an unforgettable place to stay. I can't say enough for the food either. We had dinner and breakfast and both were superb. Friendly service all around. The bunnies on the premises were fun too. Highly recommend the Mast Farm Inn.

"10/05/09" ~ This is a wonderful B&B. The owner's are friendly and very helpful. We didn't plan eating dinner there but we were glad we did, the food was outstanding.

“Put down that mouse & book this place right now!” ~ My husband and I finally decided to try the Mast Farm Inn after hearing a friend rave about the place. It exceeded our expectations on every level. We stayed for two night in Raspberry Hill---a nice big, quiet house on a mountain above the Inn. The hot tub on the porch was secluded and heavenly in the chilly air. Dinner was good beyond belief. I am a member of several gourmet societies and am pretty picky. Every course was perfection. Breakfast was just as good, if not better. They even have bee hive on the grounds. As a stressed out city girl, I found the quiet at this place totally transforming. One afternoon I took a blissful three hour nap. Put down that mouse...you won't find a better Inn than this!!

“Nicest I have been treated since Mexico....” ~ I traveled to the Mast Farm in, from Wilmington NC for a wedding a couple had booked me to photograph. They had told me of the beauty of the Inn...but I have heard that from couples before about their venues… Well, what a pleasant surprise. I was instantly calmed and comfortable after my six hour drive from the coast! First impressions are lasting.. and my first impression upon walking into the Inn was “I feel like I arrived at my grandmothers!” In my title, you noticed I mentioned a trip to Mexico (again, for a wedding-business). I go to many different venues to photograph weddings for my clients, most treat the photographer as less than hired help. The Mast Farm Inn was the only venue, besides a remote hotel in the mountains of Mexico, that treated me as a valued member of the event and as a guest. One may wonder if this makes a difference...it does. A photographers stress level is reduced and he/she is able to practice their art and make the images that much more memorable. The staff was incredible, from greeting me when I arrived, to lending me their personal computer to check up on e-mails, to simply taking the time to chat with me. They were as nice to me as if I were a member of the wedding party. The food was incredible, the room (one of the upstairs rooms in the main house) was as comfortable as being in my own room, and the whole Inn provided vast photographic opportunities for me. Their handling and involvement in the wedding event made the entire weekend and event run as smooth as Swiss clockwork. It’s all in the details…and these folks have got a strong handle on that concept…from the “ol’ timey” radios in each room to the way they treat everyone with respect and a friendly smile and warmth…this venue as a “destination wedding” has everything everybody attending will enjoy immensely.

"Birthday celebration for 3 sisters" ~ My 2 sisters and I stayed at Mast Farm Inn to celebrate birthdays. This was the first trip the 3 of us had ever taken together with out family tagging along! The staff was wonderful. Gaetano upgraded us to the largest cottage at no extra charge so that we would be more comfortable. The view was fabulous from our back deck in the Granary! The food was outstanding at every meal-including our complimentary breakfasts- thanks to Danielle! Jen served us our meals with enthusiasm and personality...we loved her! Sandra was very helpful at our check-out and even made a deal with us about our next stay ;-) Migel is the grounds keeper and we loved talking with him daily--especially my youngest sister who is a garden enthusiast. We will definitely be returning on a yearly basis!

Good afternoon, Sandra! I wanted to thank you and all the team at the Inn for putting so much love into this place! We are honored to be able to experience a bit of this piece of heaven. We were very impressed with all the aspects of the house, and how it has been kept, having in mind its history. We would like to share some photos of our stay there. I hope you can see that what you provide for visitors like us is of priceless memories. We enjoyed the artfull meals, the cozy and pristine Miss Allie room, and so many details that show you care, such as the coffee basket in the morning. Ms. Jan and Ms. Velva were so careful in serving us with a welcoming smile! After breakfast, we would seat at the porch to read on those rocking chairs. "Well worth a visit" ~ My wife and I enjoyed our stay. Beautiful room, excellent food, and gracious hospitality. Lots of nearby tourist activities, but, mostly, you can enjoy the beauty of the mountains during your travels in the area.

“A relaxing oasis in the mountains!” ~ The Mast Farm Inn provided a good home base for a relaxing vacation and visit with our daughter residing in the area. It is reasonably close to good hiking and sightseeing along the Blue Ridge Parkway, viewing the outdoor sculpture exhibit at Appalachian State, and visiting other attractions in the area. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the breakfasts were delicious and filling. We would rank it among the very best two or three of many bed and breakfasts (foreign and domestic) we've experienced over the years.

Sandra, Danielle, et. al., D, C, D and I wanted to send a note to say, "Thank you" for a great stay. We had a great time. The girls loved the environment and had a blast at the Mast General Store. Each time we visit the Mast Farm Inn, we're convinced that the mountains will be part of our retirement plans. Thanks again! We can't imagine how our stay could have been better (well, I wish we knew you were doing dinner on Sunday) and I suppose if you could be convinced to sell the Beck Speedster. "Wedding Weekend" ~ Mast Farm Inn was the destination for my son's wedding late August 2009. 72 guests came from all corners of the country and absolutely every single guest felt like they had found of piece of mountain paradise and commented that it was so worth the trip. Everything was perfect: the staff, the accommodations, the food, and the setting incredibly beautiful. Martha Stewart couldn't have done better. Organic country elegance at its best!

Sandra, Danielle, Sara and the rest of the staff of the Inn, Thank you all for a wonderful visit! Our car group has voted you the best B&B we have stayed in. Your hospitality is outstanding. Our room was beautiful. Marty and I stayed in Nell's room, Blue toile is one of my favorite fabrics. So the room was perfect for us. Danielle, the dinner will be one we will talk about for a very long time. You are a very talented chef. But my very favorite thing you did, was the hot chocolate in the morning. “AWESOME” ~ My husband and I just returned from an amazing weekend at this most charming inn. We have been guests at many bed & breakfast and have never been treated so special. The attention to detail, the fabulous gourmet meals and the gorgeous surroundings was just out of this world. The staff certainly goes the extra mile to make sure that your stay is a memory that you will always remember. Trust us you will not want to leave! Please treat yourself to what we call a piece of heaven, you will not be sorry!

We did not know that dinner was available until the email received the week of our stay. ~ For the Breakfast Crew: A wonderful breakfast. So beautifully presented with flowers and herbs. ~ For the Housekeeping Crew: I love the green leaf beneath the soap. A OK Am concerned about the shower spray getting the rug wet in Aunt Leona’s b-room. ~ For the Grounds and Maintenance Crew: Neat and Well kept.

“Southern comfort, charm, and beauty..... and some good home-cooked food.” ~ Having grown up in the mountains of Western North Carolina, I travel frequently throughout the region. While I find my own home town of Hendersonville to be one of the most friendly and beautiful that I have seen, the tiny town just a little west of Blowing Rock and Boone, known as Valle Crucis, is one of the most pristine. This is North Carolina’s mini-Tuscany, with gently rolling hills and a lush green backdrop. And, nestled right in the heart of all this beauty lies the Mast Farm Inn where I stayed for two nights in July with my teenage son and daughter during a music festival in nearby Sugar Grove (highly recommended- the Kruger Brothers and Doc Watson absolutely rock the house and the Carolina Chocolate Drops are a real treat!). What a fantastic rustic little inn. Guests can stay either in the main farmhouse or in one of the small cottages on the property. We stayed in the Blacksmith Shop, perfect for the three of us with a queen bed downstairs and a twin in the small loft upstairs. Out back is a small pond with a couple of chairs where you can sit and read and just enjoy nature. The entire inn sits on such a beautiful piece of land; its hard to imagine a more serene place to just get away from it all. A stay at the Mast Farm includes a fabulous and plentiful breakfast in the morning. The dishes are so varied and delicious; I will include a photo. And for a small price, don’t miss having a home-cooked dinner here. The meal includes four courses- salad, soup, entree, and dessert- with ingredients from their gardens. Simply simple and outstandingly good. This is an abundant meal, so come hungry! One final plus to mention about this inn: its proximity to lots of other beautiful places. Blowing Rock, Linville Falls, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Grandfather Mountain are very close by and well worth a side trip. I will definitely be back to the Mast Farm, hopefully in the October to see Carolina in the Fall. Thanks so much to the Deschamps for your kindness and commitment to such a beautiful establishment. “absolute heaven” ~ Mike and I have stayed at the Mast Farm on 4 different occasions and have loved each one. Sandra and her family make us feel like we are part of their family. We have always stayed in the cottages and loved each one. We stayed in the Black Smith Cottage on our first visit and it will probably always be our favorite, but the Loom House is the oldest and makes you feel as if you have stepped back in time, with a luxurious modern day comfort. We stayed in the Gazebo Cottage on our last visit and loved it as well, with it's seclusion and wonderful porch. All of the cottages are beautiful and comfortable in their own unique way. From the braying "rooster donkey" that wakes you in the morning to the wonderful breakfasts Sandra's mom and sister prepare we love every visit and look forward to our next one. We joke w/ Sandra that we always bring the rain, but that's okay our visits are meant for relaxing which we rarely do any other time. We love the Mast Farm and everyone there. We would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get away, relax and leave the rat race somewhere else. You cannot beat the beauty of Valle Crucis and Grandfather Mountain or the comfortable, relaxing and pampered atmosphere of the Mast Farm. We look forward to our next visit, hopefully soon.

“Heavenly!” ~ All that we had hoped for and more!!
What delightful location, scenery, hospitality, food, bed...the whole package for a heavenly get-away. Can't say enough about the Inn-keepers and chef. The attention to details in the buildings, restoration services and food were beyond all expectations. Thank you Sandra, Danielle, Gaetano and Sarah!

"Awesome experience" ~ My partner and I had an AMAZING time at the Mast Farm Inn. Staff was incredible, scenic location, comfortable rooms, fantastic food. The Porsche club cars across the road under the most beautiful tobacco barn added atmosphere, as did the organic garden. Can't wait to return!

“Welcoming, warm, charming and pristine” ~ Our three days at the Mast Farm Inn were some of the most relaxing days in recent memory. The Inn Keepers were most gracious and provided such attentive service, while giving us the space to enjoy the breathtaking grounds and scenic vistas. The breakfast was amazing and such generous portions! We were able wrap and take what we couldn't finish and snack on it all day long as we hiked the nearby mountains and trails. nummmmy! We stayed in the meticulously kept Woodworking house and cozied up with some classic movies before turning in- it felt like we'd gone back in time. Simple, easy and natural. I can't wait to go back!

"Outstanding B & B!" ~ My husband wanted to surprise me w/ a little getaway and would not tell me where we were going so, I decided to do some snooping on my own. We are B & B lovers and have been to b & b's all over including England and Scotland so, I knew it had to be nice if he was surprising me. I went online and searched all the top rated b & b's out there, but couldn't figure out which one. When we pulled up to the Mast Farm Inn, I was pleased and thought it was very charming. Gaetano greeted us and was so wonderful and everything was so organized and efficiently run. I was extremely impressed by how clean and well groomed everything was because I know how hard it is to keep dust and spider webs under control in old places. We stayed in the Granary and loved it! All the little touches of decor made it so special w/ the old Life magazines, pictures and antiques. We loved the back porch w/ rocking chairs and enjoyed sharing the property w/ a horse and donkey. The beds were extremely comfortable and bathrooms up to date and beautiful. I've saved the best for last... The food! OMG! Everything was so fresh and yummy! My husband and I cook a lot and it was so great having someone cook for us and such flavors! Breakfast was delicious and stayed w/ us most of the day. We were still full at lunch time. Meeting Sandra was like seeing an old friend and Danielle finds time to cook unbelievable dinners, but at the same time make you feel at home and do everything else. I don't know how this family can run such a well-oiled establishment and find time to make people feel so at home, but they do it and very successfully! We will definitely be going back to the Mast Farm Inn and what a great surprise it was!

“Beautiful and restful place to stay” ~ We enjoyed the Mast Farm Inn. My husband, daughter and I stayed in the Woodshop. It was nicely decorated and cozy. Our daughter slept up in the loft. Our bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Sandra was very welcoming and helpful. She highlighted activities in brochures for us based on our interests. Behind our cabin, there is a peaceful small lake where it's wonderful to sit. The food was delicious. We enjoyed the gourmet two course breakfast. We also had dinner there (which is served only Thurs-Sat. nights). Our names were on the menus. We enjoyed seeing the bunnies, and across the street there is a horse and donkey to say "Hi" to. As well as several Porsches to enjoy looking at (or renting).

Hi Danielle, I will be sending you a handwritten "Thank You"....but I have been kept very busy with my family this week. My birthday dinner party was PERFECT in every way. Cocktails, dinner, wait staff, The Forget-Me-Nots music, and "The Chef" herself made my birthday a very special evening. “Our 35th Anniversary Trip” ~ Found Mast Farm Inn on Trip Advisor. Stayed for 2 nights for our 35th Anniversary. It was the best. We arrived for dinner and it was superb. The room and bedding was just as we had expected. We got a package to rent a Porsche for a day. We had it for 24 hours with a picnic lunch. Got it about 11 AM the first day and used it until 9 PM and they got up in the morning and drove it for 2 hours the next. What a treat. Definitely worth the expense. The breakfast was very tasty. Would recommend the Mast Farm Inn for anyone wanting something different for a weekend away. We loved it.

"Corporate Retreat" ~ I led a company management retreat at the Mast Farm Inn. They did a great job in meeting our needs for rooms, flexibility and planning a great dinner. We had the place to ourselves which worked out great. We used a couple of the houses and rooms in the Inn. I would recommend consideration for this type of function as the setting is great, cost is reasonable and food is wonderful. Bank CEO

"Lovely taste of mountain hospitality" ~ Valle Crucis is a timeless valley right in the heart of NC ski country. We stayed on the third floor in the Cherry Room, which is large, well appointed, and comfortable. It was delightful to walk in the room and hear local area music playing and see two fresh cookies on the table. The claw foot bathtub was luxurious. The grounds are lovely -- plenty of scenic strolling area to work off the good food they serve. Although they request dietary restriction information at registration, it would have been nice to know what was on the menu for breakfast before it was served and to have a few options from which to choose. The local products sold there are a little on the pricey side, but they have a nice variety of offerings. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. We look forward to future visits.

“Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious experience !!!” ~ I tried to find the perfect word that sums up my experience at the Mast Farm Inn and I think I succeeded. I stayed there in June to celebrate a special Birthday. Now I think I have established a new Birthday tradition. I stayed in the Gazebo Cottage and thoroughly loved it. I really enjoyed the porch swing and rocking chairs. There was a tv/dvd combo in the room and a well stocked selection of DVDs on site. My welcome package was chocked full of useful information hand selected for my personal likes – complete with notes and highlighted suggestions of things to do in the area. The level of customer service was astonishing – really! We had dinner at the Inn 2 nights during our stay and each meal was a pure delight. Each meal had several different courses – one astonishing gastronomic delight after another. The same can be said of the breakfast served each day. They actually take time to prepare and serve a hot, healthy meal – no self-serve, cardboard box infused rubbish here! Oh and did I mention they have a Barn full of Porsches to rent??? They also have a great gift shop, beautiful gardens, and bunny rabbits. I cannot wait to return to the Mast Farm Inn and have recommended it to my friends and coworkers.

“Comfortable Friendly Quaint with 5 Star Restaurant” ~ The farm house is charming and the very hospitable owners were happy to provide if you needed something...information and activity referrals. The house is an old quaint farm house with a large wraparound front porch with rockers and swinging benches. Local fiddler music and champagne were provided on the porch the evening we arrived. This is a very relaxing mountain farm home environment...not formal at all. The house itself and the room we stayed in was historically accurate...antique furnishings and decor right down to the music and publications. A beautiful large sitting parlor and a smaller "store" stocked with local homemade foods was also inside the home. The grounds were beautiful with a pond in the back and smaller charming "cottages" were spaciously surrounding the house. The property includes a vegetable garden with caged rabbits across a busy road of which the house is very close to the road. (parents with small kids should take caution?) A couple of other points: Our bedroom (Vining) did not have any doors for the bathroom....No door to sink area and no door to shower/commode! I wouldn't have reserved this room had I known this fact. Aside from that, the breakfast was amazing and we would highly recommend the restaurant for an amazing 4 course dinner.

"Anna's birthday" ~ My wife and I enjoy reading in a quiet serene setting. We found that while staying in the Gazebo. This was our second stay at Mast Farm Inn, and we will go back. We like everything, from the very comfortable beds, the furnishings, the cleanliness, and the setting. but most of all the food. We had pecan encrusted trout one evening with a Riesling that was a great match. Breakfasts were wonderfully and tastefully prepared and presented.

“Worth every dollar” ~ My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. Upon arrival we were informed that the room we had reserved (Aunt Leona) had a broken air conditioner, so we were offered the wood working shop instead, which is a much more expensive accommodation. We were very pleasantly surprised by all the little details the Inn provided. We ate dinner our first night there at the Inn and loved every bit of it. it is a more expensive meal, but worth every penny if you enjoy more gourmet cuisine. Every morning there was a basket of 2 mugs, a thermos of coffee, and all the fixin's outside our door. (very cute touch) Breakfast is also gourmet very fresh and I personally found it filling. I think this is what sets this Inn apart from a lot of other B&B's is that they DO provide a gourmet breakfast and not just the standard country breakfast we could go to any local diner and get. The gift shop had lots of different and artistic little items. My husband and I purchased some little stuffed animals (I think they are cats) that are reminiscent of sock monkeys that we hope to give to future children from our honeymoon trip : ) I commend Mast Farm Inn for their effort to be Organic, earth friendly, homey, artistic, and all together friendly . They definitely do NOT take the easy way out in any thing they do. I would highly recommend them to any and everyone!

“Mast Farm Inn, staff, accommodations, and meals are great!” ~ My wife and i like the serene atmosphere that allows reading and walking the nearby area. Mast Farm Inn allows and encourages that. The beds were very comfortable and it was very tastefully decorated. The also provided a DVD player and DVD's for viewing which allow some rest for weary eyes.

"R and R" for Pastor and wife" ~ This "mini-vacation" began as a gift certificate from our daughter and her husband. We were desperate for some quiet time and a chance to recharge our batteries. Our stay was exactly what we needed. The preparation for our visit was impressive, and our experience only got better after we arrived. The room was very comfortable, the hosts warm and friendly, and the food amazing. We even got a report on the family's fishing excursion. What a delight! We will try to schedule a return visit very soon.

"Another Superb Stay at the Mast Farm Inn!"~ My wife and I have stayed at The Mast Farm Inn four times now and will and will be returning for a fifth stay next summer if not sooner. The Mast Farm Inn is first class in all areas. What we like best is the personal and kind touch of class which permeates throughout our stay there by Ms. Sandra Siano and Ms. Danielle Deschamps. I honestly feel as a guest that I am part of their family! I know they mean that to be but that is very hard to do. Our stays at The Mast Farm Inn remain one of the best travel experiences of the many we have taken. Not only are the accommodations second to none, the dining there is also first class. The menus for each meal are personalized. Now, that is unique and guests get a kick out of the extra time spent on adding tidbits of information from guests’ hometowns to even hobbies to their menus. Moreover, the food is not only very well prepared but served tastefully with a genuine country home grown theme. In fact, every time we return, we continue to be amazed how good the meals are here. I would unhesitatingly refer this superb restaurant and lodging establishment to those travelers out there who want a comfortable stay with these superb innkeepers who truly mean to make their guests feel right at home but at the same time allow the proper space needed by many. Sandra Siano, Danielle Deschamps and their families have done it right. The innkeeper’s sincerity, friendship, consideration and refreshing kindness is very well appreciated.

“Great place to get away from the city heat” ~ Traveling with my daughter, a student at a nearby university, we stopped off to visit one of her classmates and stayed at the Mast Farm Inn. I'd seen the inn a few times on previous trips to the area and thought it looked charming and might be a good place to stay; little did I know that my daughter had made reservations for us at the very place that had intrigued me on previous trips. We especially enjoyed the warm hospitality, the surrounding property (pond, rustic buildings, scenery, etc.), and the bunnies, who enjoy a little scratch between the ears. :-) My only negative comment is a personal issue--the steep staircase was a little hard on my arthritic knee, so keep this in mind if you have similar problems. I might add that it's not enough of an issue to keep me from going back! Breakfast was truly a gourmet meal, a fresh approach to Southern cooking based on traditional ingredients (and some not-so-traditional ones)--the result was great. Personal touches, such as thank-you notes and a "welcome bag," make guests feel special and appreciated. The hosts are friendly and seem genuinely concerned about taking care of guests' every need. Special note to Appalachian State University parents: The Broyhill and the Holiday Inn may be closer, but for the same cost you can stay at a charming, historic inn with glorious surroundings and a sumptuous meal. For the peace and quiet and individual attention, you won't regret traveling the few extra miles! Bear in mind, though--no TV, spotty cell phone service, and no wi-fi. This is a place to get away from the burdens of everyday life and the city. (Verizon seems to work best in this general area, where cell phone service can be iffy anyway, even closer in to Boone.)

"AMAZING breakfasts" ~ This was my first time at a bed and breakfast, but if this is how bed and breakfast experiences are everywhere then I clearly need to plan more trips that include them! My boyfriend and I stayed in the Blacksmith Shop, which was stunning (in particular, the large pink claw-foot tub in the loft was a dream come true--no bubble bath was provided as promised on the website, though). The price for a mid-week stay was a little high in my opinion, but we didn't feel that our money was not well spent at the end of our stay. What was worth every penny of our stay: the breakfasts. A-maz-ing. We stayed for 3 days and each morning had a unique breakfast, and the staff remembered our tea/coffee/juice habits and had the table pre-set for us each morning on the second and third day before we even arrived. Between the muffin tops, the oatmeal with raspberry preserves, the chocolate chip pancakes with banana glaze (or the cream cheese and raspberry stuffed pancakes with peach glaze)...I wish I was there right now to enjoy the food! So unbelievably yummy! Overall, great place. And the bunnies raised on the property are adorable.

"Wedding celebration" ~ We came to Mast Farm Inn because our daughter had seen it and fell in love with it and wanted to be married there. We understand now what she saw in the Inn. Her wedding was everything she wanted and more and everyone was so pleasant and helpful it made the time stress free for us. The food was wonderful and the service was great. We had a 2 year old and a 2 month old in our group and everything was done to see that they were taken care of. We stayed in the Granary and it was so nice with everything to make us comfortable. Everyone we met that worked there was pleasant and so very helpful. It was a great experience.

"Perfect Spring Break, My first time in the mountains and the Mast Farm Inn offered me all that I could hope for! The setting of the farm was charming. The Inn keeper and all the staff couldn't do enough to make one feel more at home. The location of the inn was just a short drive to the fabulous shopping in Blowing Rock and a few miles from the entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway for the most breathtaking scenic drive. I can see why the mountains attract people for skiing in the winter but spring is picturesque, especially at the Mast. Every morning was started off with a fabulous breakfast featuring farm fresh eggs made in especially delicious ways. We were lucky enough to have one dinner at the Inn and it was wonderful. "Unforgettable Long Weekend Escape! My husband and I had made reservations to celebrate our first wedding anniversary at the Mast Farm Inn in March. We read plenty of reviews prior to our arrival and are so pleased to say that our experience exceeded our expectations. We spent three nights in the Blacksmith Shop and really enjoyed our accommodations. Neither of us had ever stayed in anything resembling a rustic cabin before and we enjoyed the authenticity of our room. We were very fond of the gas stove, the soaking tub, the loft upstairs, the flat screen TV where you can only watch DVD's, and the rocking chairs outside our room. It rained during the first two days of our trip so all of these amenities came in handy. We know we would not have had the same experience staying at a hotel/resort. The Innkeepers and staff were great, everyone was pleasant and welcoming. Everyone at the Inn made sure to congratulate us on our anniversary and seemed to genuinely care that we had a nice stay. We really did feel like we belonged there and at no point felt uncomfortable. Every aspect of our stay was wonderful, starting with the coffee basket delivered to our door at 8am, to the delicious 2 course breakfasts made with natural ingredients. We also had the opportunity to dine at Simplicity for two nights in a row and were extremely satisfied with the service and the quality of the food. We actually canceled our alternate plans for our second night to dine at Simplicity again. We loved the personalized menu's that were very detailed describing course-by-course the treats they had in store for us. We really enjoyed the all-natural ingredients and were very happy with the portions served. To top everything off, my husband and I rented a Porsche and drove all over High Country which consisted of many surrounding counties. It was an unbelievable experience to drive an awesome automobile on the winding roads in NC while viewing the mountain ranges. This is a must do and we recommend it! "Romantic New Years Eve. My husband and I give each other the same Christmas present each year. A trip somewhere new for New Years Eve. This year, our schedule prevented anything other than an overnight. We are only 2 1/2 hours from the MFI and have been guests there several times. We are never disappointed with any aspect of our stay. We have stayed in the Maple Spring Cottage all but once when it was otherwise booked. One of the things we enjoy most is the fact that our cell phones rarely work and there is no TV. There are so many wonderful experiences to be had in this world that we are not the types to keep returning to the same place over and over. "Wonderful Hospitality" I booked into the Mast Farm Inn and as many rooms were available they upgraded my stay to the Loom House (smart decision I'm now hooked) as this was closer to the main house. My Garmin gave me incorrect directions and upon calling they were kind enough to stay on the telephone with me to get to there as well as met me in the room to help settle me in quickly so I could get to my engagement on time, even drew a map. The breakfast was amazing and the room was unforgettable. I haven't enjoyed a business out of town trip in ages. Can't wait to come back."

The Inn Keepers and staff of The Mast Farm Inn are absolutely amazing. We did not have to worry about any detail of our wedding except what to wear. The atmosphere in the Loom House was amazing and perfect for our very private and special ceremony. Even though Danielle was extremely busy in the restaurant, she made sure we had our evening meal on our wedding night in our cabin. "We stayed at the Mast Farm Inn for 3 nights with our 2 children, ages 5 & 7. We had the Maple Spring cottage with 1 queen size bed in it's own room and a Murphy bed for the kids in the living room. We were all together, but not on top of each other. The cottage was sweet and homey. The kids loved the outdoor hot tub the best! The staff was very accommodating to the children, anticipating they might not have the same taste in food and offered regular pancakes and juice boxes. My husband and I, however, thought the breakfasts were out of this world! And the personalized menus were a fun, nice touch. The location was perfect- in between everything you'd want to get to in the mountains. We had the best weekend. We plan to come back again and again!"

We recently stayed at the Mast Farm Inn for part of our motorcycle tour of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Originally, we only planned to stay for 2 nights. We crashed on the motorcycle on our 2nd day. My husband had to be hospitalized for 2 days and then was not released to travel back home for 2 more days. The family and employees of Mast Farm Inn were so helpful to me during this time. If it wasn't for their support and help, I don't know what I would have done. They picked me up from the hospital after my husband was admitted, made breakfast 'to go' for me to take him in the hospital, constantly checked on his condition, helped load the crashed bike into our trailer, unhitched the trailer from our truck so that I could drive back to the hospital for visits and to pick him up. When he was discharged, they moved us to the 'Blacksmith Shop' because he could not climb stairs and the room served our needs the best for his recovery prior to traveling home. This family of innkeepers truly cares about making the experience of their guests the best it can be -- even in such extraordinary circumstances as we had. They went above and beyond our expectations of any B&B. We will definitely return again -- only without a motorcycle next time!

My husband and I celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary at the Mast Farm Inn. It was our first weekend getaway in over seven years, and our first stay at a B&B. Our expectations were extremely high, and The Mast Farm Inn exceeded them by a mile. The inn is located in a most idyllic spot. I was charmed by the Victorian architecture of the inn, and the beautiful old trees, patches of wildflowers, and mountain views that surround it. My husband was charmed by the nearby line of porsches, available for daily rentals through the inn. Upon arrival, we were upgraded (at no charge) to one of the inn’s cabins for our weekend stay. It allowed us exceptional privacy, and we were very comfortable in this cozy, rustic cabin. We enjoyed one dinner and two breakfasts during our stay. The food was plentiful, filling, and scrumptious. Most impressive was the chef’s conscientious effort to accommodate my severe allergy to nuts. She prepared my food separately and provided me with alternative dishes, when necessary. All of the staff at the Mast Farm Inn treated us just as well. They informed of us nearby outdoor activities to our liking and entertained us in the evenings with pleasant conversations on the inn’s wrap-around porch.

We truly had the most relaxing and enjoyable weekend possible at the Mast Farm Inn. The service was superb, beyond comparison. Our room was immaculately clean and beautifully decorated with attention given to the most minute detail. Then, to top off a wonderful day, our dinner was without doubt the best meal we have ever enjoyed, anywhere. We will most definitely return to enjoy another happy time at the marvelous Mast Farm Inn, and spend time with the very welcoming innkeepers. The experience can only be described as spectacular in ever respect. W & G

We dropped off our son at college and spent the night in the Cherry Room. It was a wonderful relaxing getaway for us. We loved walking through the garden and up to the pond. It was nice for us to connect again after all the "family" stress of moving a child off to college. I look forward to visiting again.

We celebrated our 30th anniversary in the "Raspberry Hill" cottage. What a nice time we had. The rooms were so comfy. We slept with the windows open and listened to the outside coming in! We would love to come back again and probably will soon! Thanks to all the staff and thanks to Danielle for breakfast, the wine suggestion and the chat!

We had a great stay in the Loom House on our anniversary. Everything was just perfect. We had a delicious dinner in the Inn. The next morning coffee was delivered in a basket to our porch. A delicious breakfast was served later in the dining room. Everyone was very friendly. We would love to come back one day.

We only stayed one night, but enjoyed it immensely. The room was perfect and the breakfast was amazing. Yum!

Wonderful place for celebrating my wife's birthday (50th) and our anniversary! This was our 5th visit and we have enjoyed each and every visit. Our favorite place is now the Rasberry Hill cottage. Looking forward to next year!!!

"I was a dinner guest at the Inn this past Saturday night. I had been invited to Blowing Rock for a few days by my friend SH. We enjoyed our meal there on Saturday night. Both waitresses were very polite and served us well. I enjoyed the cauliflower soup. I searched for the recipe for cauliflower soup from cookbooks I have here at home and made it today. My soup did not turn out as well as the soup from the Inn. I would surely appreciate receiving the recipe for the Mast Inn's cauliflower soup." ~ SW

I stayed for a week in late July to early August, and had a wonderful time. The Inn is enchanting, and the owners and staff constantly provided exceptional service in a friendly and helpful way; they even went out of their way to help me resolve a problem with my car. The only thing I can't figure out is why they ask you how they can improve: everything is perfect!

They helped me plan a more than wonderful 50th birthday surprise for my husband. They went out of their way to make the whole visit a wonderful experience for us. The accommodations were fabulous! The food was scrumptious, even my picky eater husband was delighted. We will never forget how wonderful, kind and generous the whole family and staff were to us! Thank you!

My husband and I, along with our adult daughters, were touched by all of the extra attention that was bestowed upon us by the special people who make the farm what it is. Along with the sheer beauty surrounding us in Valle Crucis came amazing accommodations that allowed us to experience the true flavor of North Carolina, one that will remain with us forever. "How can you say the Mast Inn will be your fondest memory of a vacation? Stay there and then you will drive 150 miles out of your way to return for one more night so you have fond memories of the area. We came to the Blue Ridge Mountains area for a week of Bed and Breakfast's so we could be pampered. Looking through sites we saw the Mast Farm Inn but did not plan on staying there as we thought we would not be near. But as circumstances had it we just stumbled by and asked if there were rooms available. Sandra kindly offered us a few possibilities and we immediately booked a room and made reservations for dinner. Dinner was SUPERB! The waitress was so pleasant and the food so good you wanted to lick your lips. When we had the choice of Desert the Tiramisu and Drunken Fruit Cake were delicious also. The room "Miss Allie" was spotless and enjoying the old magazines provided was a treat. The breakfast the next morning was so good that I had to tell my friend a caterer in Palm Beach about it. We left wishing we would have stayed longer. After having a bad experience in near by Blowing Rock the next day we ran away to a cabin in the mountains far away from the tourist trap place we stayed at in Blowing Rock. But we wanted GREAT food, a good bed , nice proprietors and an ending to a vacation that we would smile at. So we drove a circle of 150 miles to return to the Mast Farm Inn for a night before we had to fly back to the Bahamas. We were lucky to get the last room "The Woodworker Shop" and enjoyed another excellent dinner and breakfast. We so enjoyed visiting with everyone there that we felt like family. The service was the BEST we had in the area and the food was superb. Thank You to the entire staff at the Mast Farm Inn for making our vacation one to remember with joy and a reason to return. "As you approach the little community of Valle Crucis via a two lane country road you will find a cozy & beautiful place currently covered with spring flowers The Mast Farm Inn. When you walk into this historic house you are greeted by Sandra & Gaetano, who couldn't be friendlier and shown to your room where no keys are required, however; you do have the option of requesting one. After you have checked in and grabbed your glass of Champagne which they serve at 5:30 you can head to the front porch where you can sit, relax and enjoy the fresh mountain air. That evening we choose to dine at the Inn where the food is prepared by Marie, who uses family recipes and adds a southern flair to them. Every meal we had breakfast & dinner was delicious and fresh and to top it off each menu written daily by the former author/owner Henri who uses his creative talent to surprise you every time you dine. We did decide to dine one night away from the Inn at the _____ which I would NOT recommend. The food was mediocre. At the Inn the food is far better than the ____. So don’t waste your time driving there. Overall if you are looking for a cozy, relaxing, no cell phone, and no computer mountain getaway…This is the place!!"

My husband and my parents and I all shared one of the cottages (we were given a free upgrade to Raspberry Hill), and truly enjoyed ourselves even though the weather was dismal and cold. They emailed a questionnaire before the visit and had a dog-eared, pre-highlighted booklet that had attractions and other things to do - we followed their advice and had several nice outings and we'd never been to the area before. I have never written a review before - but this place is FANTASTIC!! My boyfriend and I stayed here for a weekend in one of the cottages and had the most amazing time. We had the utmost privacy and the hot tub under the stars is the most romantic thing I have ever experienced. The people, food and wine made a lasting impression. I look forward to going back soon. "My husband and I stayed in the Loom House at the Mast Farm Inn on Saturday, March 22, 2008. This was our third visit to the Inn since 2002. In the past, we have also given gift certificates for the Inn to family members. This was a special one-night getaway to celebrate our anniversary. We really adore Valle Crucis and the Inn and will always consider it one of our top choices for a romantic getaway. A little background on a past experience with the Inn: We have 2 small children – a 2 year old and a 9 month old – so it is always a treat to get some ‘grown-up’ time. We had reservations at the Inn in March 2007 as well. I was 5 months pregnant at the time and the day before we were to arrive for our anniversary weekend, I was unexpectedly hospitalized. My husband called the Inn and explained the situation and they were very gracious and understanding. Usually there is a penalty for a cancellation within the 14-day window, but not this time! Plus, we were using a gift certificate from my in-laws and I was concerned about that going to waste. No problem there, either. I ended up being on extended bed rest until our baby girl was born in June. No worries – she is one happy and healthy baby girl now! When it came time to plan our anniversary this year, the Inn was our first choice. I called Renae and explained the situation and she was very helpful. We were allowed to use our gift certificate from last year. That’s pretty amazing customer service and, unfortunately, not that common any more. Bottom-line: The staff was pleasant and helpful. The Loom House was wonderful, as usual. We really love soaking in the tub for two and building fires in the fireplace stove. No TV, no phone, no computer – my idea of heaven (short-term, anyway!) Also, we have never found the noise-level to be an issue. Breakfast was delicious – we lucked out because it was a French Toast day <<yummy>>. We will definitely go back again and again."

"As we drove up trough hickory, we were expecting a pine experience, but rather than the usual Okay place, we found that The Mast Farm Inn stands tall as a sequoia in the world of B&Bs. The food was amazing; it certainly didn’t leave us hollow. From the peachy breakfast to the incredibly personalized Thyme Free Dinner. Our spacious cabin was the prefect place to rest our limbs and it was so cozy even without hemlocks on the doors. We lay around and relaxed so much we could have grown roots. The person at the Front Desks' warm, professional, and courteous demeanor hooked us right away. We were not intending to spend the night but her enthusiasm and generous, trusting nature in allowing us to tour the facility at our leisure was exceptionally luring. My companion and I went on to visit two other properties/facilities, yet turned around and drove all the way back in order to stay there. Her impression on us was so positive. She is a jewel! Your rooms and shared spaces are tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable. Our encounter with your superb kitchen chef and dining room staff was another wonderful surprise. "Someone Pinch Me! Well, I wasn't truly eager for anyone to wake me if it was a dream. My husband and I were given the weekend for Christmas '07 and unable to go before now. It was such a blessing for us to be alone and reconnect. Every aspect of our stay was personalized even down to the menus for dinner. The food was amazing--gourmet, healthy and so fresh. They paid attention to allergies I had and made chocolate cake without nuts just for me! We were always greeted by the inn keepers and staff with smiles. There was such a warm family atmosphere. I can't express how fantastic it was for this mom of four to spend 3 days without making a bed, preparing a meal or worrying over laundry. We’ve stayed in many places ranging from grand opulence to creek-side cabins but never has the service of a place reached out and touched us before we actually arrived. We LOVED the email prior to coming asking us what our intentions were for our stay. We LOVED the personal note upon our arrival reiterating our intentions just in case we got side-tracked. We really enjoyed hanging out with Henry and suspecting he works for the government because of his knowledge of us and the correct spelling of my name. We equally enjoyed hearing Danielle’s love of the Boxster S we tootled around in. I’m pretty sure it was “Mom’s” food and cookies we enjoyed in the morning and if I’m wrong about, please clarify. While the French Toast is crazy good, I was quite in love with the oatmeal. Never have I had such a decadent form of “feel-good”. I don’t think I actually met Gaetano but if he’s fortunate enough to be part of the tribe, then I’ll thank him too. I come from a tribe myself so I really enjoyed and appreciated the family effort it takes to make someone feel “right at home”. The Blacksmith cabin was so relaxing, there is just something about sitting by the gas logs and watching the snow flakes fall. It was so cozy that we didn't want to leave the cabin! I fell in love with the antique, porcelain tub in the upstairs loft- the size of the tub is much larger than any standard tub- I could stretch out, soak and read, it was very nice. "We just recently returned from the Mast Farm Inn from a long weekend celebrating our anniversary. The cabin was very nice and perfect for the two of us. It had a great rustic feel to it, but with all the wanted and needed amenities. Not to forget the flip switch gas furnace for the cold winter nights. The view from our window was gorgeous with a pond and the melting snow. Our cabin was tucked away towards the woods and provided a nice quiet experience. The breakfast gave us something to look forward to in the mornings, served at just the right time and not too early. There is always something sweet and something salty to begin the day. The people were very friendly and helpful. We took advantage of the nearby attractions during the day on nearby ski slopes, wildlife refuge, hiking and downtown Boone shopping. For anyone who enjoys driving, renting one of the Club Ferdinand Porsches for these twisty mountain roads is so much fun and a must! We hope to return this summer to see the Mast Farm Inn and surroundings in full bloom." ~ Dr. S

From the moment we stepped on the grounds, we could see how lovingly you've taken care of the Farm. It is a very happy place!

The food is wonderful. Breakfast was first class with attentive service. We dined one night at the Inn and loved it. It was very romantic - good food, wine, and a beautiful setting. If you ever give out your recipes, I would love the one for the flourless chocolate torte. It was out of this world! Thank you for promoting organic farming. The fruits and veggies had so much more flavor and texture than the stuff you find in a supermarket.

We can see why you've received so many awards and recognition! We've traveled throughout the world and stayed at many top notch places. In our opinion, yours is one of the best! It's the small touches, from notes, coffee baskets, and smiles, that make you very special. I want to especially thank you for taking into account my citrus allergy when planning your meals. I was really delightfully shocked to find you had taken the time to make some of your famous orange-carrot soup without the orange! It was wonderful! Coming from a family in the restaurant business, I know you really went out of your way for me. I will never be able to thank you enough. Dining out with such an allergy is really difficult at times. Even though I never ask to have a dish prepared differently (I just need to know what's in a dish so I don't order it), I have found that many places are not very cooperative. They don't seem to understand that I'm not being picky. I just don't want to end a lovely evening in a hospital!

Please give Henri our regards. We met him at the fundraiser on Thursday, August 2nd. I know he spoke with many folks that night. He might remember me because we talked about the Caribbean - I'm from Cuba. We really enjoyed his "tips" in your daily newsletter. The one on fishing was a hoot!

"The 2007 Cobra Moonshine Tour of 10 original Shelby AC Cobras through the North Carolina mountains visited the Mast Farm Inn for lunch on the first day of our 300 mile tour. Henri Deschamps and his family gave us a reception and lunch like no other we have experienced. A special 5 course meal with a personally designed menu just for our event was served with flawless execution by Henri, his family and staff beside the scenic pond just above the main house. Henri definitely spent hours creating the clever custom menu, with every item description including special meaning for our group of car enthusiasts. We relaxed on the verandas of the buildings and cabins adjacent to the pond and toured the rooms in several of the buildings on the property. Every item they served was delicious, the tastes unique, the presentation superb. The accommodations were charming, and the peace and tranquility of the setting caused us some delay since no one wanted to move on! Congratulations to Henri for a most memorable experience. We especially enjoyed the older issues of "LIFE" and "National Geographic" Magazines. "I'm not sure where to begin. The weekend was one that we will never forget! Not only because we were married at the Mast Farm Inn, but that it was perfect! I must say that that is a word I don't use lightly but when it is true, I must confess. I would not have changed a thing. This was made possible by the Mast Farm Family and their amazing staff. ~ Our room and wedding ceremony site - the historic Loom House was magical. All of family's rooms - elegant and tastefully decorated. The food- excellent! The grounds - lovely! From the warm breakfast to the catering (Sweet Monkey Catering), and our wedding cake (Stick Boy Bakery) our palettes were satisfied in every way. Planning the wedding was very smooth and Danielle worked with all of our requests without a pause. At the last minute we moved the reception inside the inn to accommodate for the 4inches of snow and the whole Mast Farm family took part in decorating and rearranging. It was perfect! Danielle and her family took every opportunity to go the extra mile for our family and friends to make this a weekend we could never forget. She even decorated our room with petals and candles and took care of our flowers and decorations making sure everything was packed for us with sweet notes. "My family and I needed an escape from the Miami flatlands to some Hills during the Easter school break. We travel a great deal out of the country and were looking for a more American experience. We stumbled upon this Inn through a friend of a friend who had been there in the past, and contacted the hotel directly. In learning that ownership had changed I was not sure what to expect, but what we got was an amazing experience. The Inn was purchased by a family only a year ago, they had never run a property before, but I have to tell you they are the nicest people you could ever meet. They understand service and cleanliness. There is a main house and several cabins. We toured the main house on arrival and were really impressed by how such an old (National Register) building could be so clean and updated. It was beautiful, the rooms look very comfortable! We stayed in a cabin on the top of the hill, better so that others did not hear my kids screaming when they went into the outdoor Jacuzzi when the Easter snowstorm hit us all! That is what made the whole thing special! There was a wedding happening that weekend, and they were planning on doing everything outside, of course that was no longer going to happen in the Snow, so they moved everything in and accommodated the other guests as well. I travel 110 days per year for business, this is the first time that i write a review, but it was such a special weekend, that other folks deserve theirs as well! ~ L"

"Our Daughter was married at the Mast Farm Inn on April 7, 2007. ~ We live in Florida so it was a destination wedding. We had two months to plan the wedding and no chance to see the Inn before the wedding. We were depending on the Mast Farm to make it happen and work out all the pieces of the event through e-mail and telephone calls prior to the wedding weekend. Danielle Deschamps and her family who own the farm went above and beyond to make every detail perfect. They were willing to accommodate us in every way possible, making changes when necessary. Danielle was a dream to work with, she remained calm and very helpful throughout the entire process and weekend. Danielle and her sister Sandra handled all the set up, clean up, pick up, and put our minds to ease at every turn. Our wedding began on Friday evening with a cocktail reception. Saturday there was a rehearsal lunch and the wedding ceremony was at 5:30 on the porch of the Loom House with a dinner reception and dancing following. All thirty of our guest raved about the entire weekend. Comments included; warm and welcoming, beautiful place, excellent accommodations, unbelievably delicious food, and a very friendly and helpful staff. Danielle suggested we use Holly West of Sweet Monkey Bakery as our caterer and I must say I was concerned since we didn't have a chance to do a tasting before the wedding. It turned out to be the most amazing food (every meal) we have ever eaten. Danielle's Mom is the breakfast chef and it was the best B&B breakfast we have ever experienced. We really can't say enough wonderful things about the Mast Farm and Danielle Deschamps. The Mast Farm Inn is a must see destination and if you want a wonderful intimate wedding with ease of mind this is the place. Guest rooms and cabins are beautiful and well appointed. It felt like family. Our family is thrilled we chose to do our daughter's special wedding at the farm. We are glad we took Danielle's advice on many of the details that made the wedding unique and we are thankful we decide to use Holly West as our caterer for the weekend. "I arrived at a beautiful inn on a weekend trip In the NC Mountains two days after Thanksgiving 2006. It was the Mast Farm Inn. Determined to have some non interrupted time to write, I found this B&B dating back to 1810 in Valle Crucis, NC. It had everything I wanted. Since I was traveling alone, I looked for safe surroundings, a beautiful restful environment, a place of welcomed arrival and attention to detail. I anticipated being treated as a special guest, to be known by name, to enjoy a good nights sleep, to indulge in good food and receive personal care. These were all met to my expectations as Sandra Siano met me at the front desk, remembered our earlier conversation on the phone, introduced me to her sister Danielle and her mother Marie-Henriette Deschamps. Since I arrived a few minutes after 5:00 PM, it was getting close to my 6:30 dinner reservation. When Sandra asked if I would like to eat dinner at 6:00 PM, I realized I must have looked a little ragged and hungry. I took her up on her kind offer because I was starved. My evening meal was graciously served by David Winebarger and consisted of tomato and roasted garlic soup, pork chops with a special spicy glazed sauce, fresh vegetables and sweet mashed potatoes. The chef, Ed Winebarger (brother to David) made sure that the end was just as good as the beginning as he created a cheese and apple cobbler with homemade ice cream. As I sat in my room looking at my high poster bed in the Miss Allie's room, I confirmed in my mind that "BED and BREAKFAST for the SOUL" would be the branded name of my inspirational writings. The Miss Allie room was perfect for just the two of us, for we slept well on the fine mattress on the antique bed listening to the rain. Of course, walking the road down to the river and exploring the back yard and out-buildings (and swinging on the front porch) was a good way to work up an appetite for dinner. Especially friendly were your two daughters and son-in-law, who even helped us connect our e-mail. We will certainly recommend your inn to our friends and family, and we look forward to visiting again. The experience was certainly Tres Bon! "Sandra, We were there with another couple in March and had a wonderful time. The service was superb, the meals were the among the best we've had anywhere, here or abroad, the rooms were very comfortable, and we even got coffee and breakfast early on Saturday morning since we had to leave early. In addition, I put the puzzle together and had it framed like the one at the desk. It's one of my favorite souvenirs from anywhere I've traveled.
