What's New at The Mast Farm Inn. We are continuously building,
renovating, restoring and enhancing the Mast Farm Inn.
The Mast Farm
Inn was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1972, as "one of the most complete and best preserved groups of nineteenth century farm buildings in western North Carolina." Thanks to inspired restorations and
excellent care, The Mast Farm Inn welcomes visitors today as it did a hundred years ago, providing delicious meals and comfortable
period lodging in a beautiful setting.
The
Forget-Me-Nots,
www.theforgetmenots.com, are the
house band at The Mast Farm Inn. They live literally one minute by foot
from here, and play regularly on Saturday mornings at Breakfast or Friday
evening at Diner. As these young ladies are 11, 12 and 14 this very
much depends on their school exam schedules. The Forget-Me-Nots bring
fresh energy to the ageless tradition of Celtic music. The band originated
in 2002 but its roots go back to 1999, when the girls started playing violin
at the tender ages of 2, 3 and 4 years old. The players are
Willa
Finck, Maura Shawn Scanlin, and Ledah Finck, with
Willa and Ledah's Dad
David
Finck on backup guitar. The girls, classically trained through the
Suzuki method, also showed an early interest in playing old-time and Celtic
fiddle music. This interest blossomed in the fertile grounds of the North
Carolina High Country, an area steeped in Appalachian musical traditions.
The Bluegrass Legacy: The Mast Farm Inn organizes a series of "Musical Retreats" and concerts
named The Bluegrass Legacy
with major recording and performing artists every year to present and
explore the legacy, present and future of the Bluegrass musical genre. These
retreats feature 4 day workshop-retreats as well as a series of house concerts. We invite you to
discover, as it really lives and breathes, one of the most vital and
creative, but less well known genres in American Music and Culture. For more
