![]() The Fine Print on Special Event Costs and Policies Site Preparation Fee - A site preparation fee for holding your wedding ceremony on the Inn property varies from $100 for a ceremony with just the two of you and an officiant to $1000 and more for larger weddings and festivities. The specific fee will be determined by our special events manager and depends on the size and nature of the event, as well as the time of year. No tax or gratuity is added to the site fee. In addition to a site fee, it may be necessary, when planning an outdoor wedding ceremony or other outdoor event, to reserve some lodging accommodations (multiple night minimums may apply). These lodging reservations may be required for two reasons: first, in order to provide for an alternate location for the event in case of inclement weather and secondly, to prevent infringing on the private space of lodging guests who are not part of the event group. (See additional information regarding lodging below.) Twig Arbor - The charge for use of our small twig arbor at the location on the property of your choice is $100. Evening Dinner Event - See our current Dinner Menu and Wine List to get an idea of the cost of an evening meal in our restaurant. Menu prices apply to group dinners, with some exceptions (see below). Our menu varies seasonally; entrée choices for your dinner event would be made from the menu in use at the time of your event. A pre-ordered, limited entrée menu is generally required for groups over ten. Scheduling a group dinner requires at least a three-course meal being planned. Depending on the day and time of the function, there may be an additional room charge. Buffet Wedding Reception - Buffet receptions are often the choice for from 45 to 150 guests. The minimum cost for a midday buffet reception is $45 per person (plus tax and gratuity). A wide choice of foods is possible, from heavy hors d'oeuvres to a hearty hot meal served from chafing dishes, perhaps with a salad or other appetizers to start served at table. Menu items in the past have ranged widely, from roast pig and black-eyed peas to Russian caviar. For such an event, our dining rooms are set up complete with flowers, dinner linens, and oil lamps. There is no additional room charge for a midday event. A buffet reception during our evening restaurant hours would incur an additional room charge, with that charge depending on the day of the week and the time of year. Bridal Breakfast & Bridal Brunch - A mid-to late morning breakfast/brunch can be served to your guests for a minimum of $15 per person (plus tax and gratuity). The menu for this two-course meal would be similar to the breakfasts served to our inn guests. Our breakfast placemats are used at table and the service is casual. The times that are possible for such an event depend on the number of persons in the group, the day of the week, and the time of the year. Please inquire. Coffee or tea, as well as a glass of fruit juice, is included with the meal; Mimosas are available. The time needed out of a bride's heavily scheduled day for such a breakfast/brunch is generally about an hour. Bridal Brunch & Bridal Luncheon - A bridal luncheon at the Inn is a special affair, complete with dinner linens, flowers on the tables in season, a 3-course menu created especially for you, and our attentive, yet friendly, table service. Our terrace is recommended as the site in warm weather. One of our wood-paneled dining rooms with fireplace is the choice in cooler weather. The group is welcome to linger over wine or fruited iced tea for a relaxing visit. This event is often the time to present presents to the bridal attendants. The charge is $25 to $40 per person (plus tax and gratuity), depending on the number of guests and the menu. Groups numbering between 10 and 35 can be accommodated. There may be a site fee in addition to food and beverage costs for smaller groups. Your meal could start with a soup or salad, depending on the season, followed by a luncheon entrée, and a special dessert chosen to suit your tastes. A crisp white or a light red wine can be selected from our Wine List to compliment your lunch. Birthday or Anniversary Luncheon - The bridal luncheon can easily be adapted to a birthday or anniversary celebration. A special cake can be provided by us, or you are welcome to bring one (a service fee applies, see Wedding Cake). Wedding Cake - If you choose to have your reception here at the Inn, we can suggest several excellent local bakers who specialize in wedding cakes. If you would like for us to be involved in working out the details of the cake with the baker, including choice of cake, time of delivery, coordination with the florist for decoration with fresh flowers, and delivery, there is a $100 fee added to the baker's charge. Additionally, the fee for setting up and serving the cake to your guests is $4.75 per person. No tax is added to either of these service charges. The wait staff gratuity is included in this latter service fee. Lodging - Accommodations at the inn include seven guest rooms in the farmhouse, the first floor of which houses our restaurant and bar. In addition, we have seven guest cottages and cabins, some of which are restored buildings from the 19th Century Mast farm. Our largest cottages, the Granary and Raspberry Hill, both sleep up to six. The maximum number of guests we can house in all rooms and cottages is around 40. A full description with pictures and seasonal rates of all our accommodations are online. There are generally no group discounts. Minimum stay requirements apply on weekends. Taxes and Gratuities: Lodging and food and beverage costs are stated without taxes (NC sales tax is 7%, no occupancy tax at this time) and gratuities (18% of food/beverage costs with $15 per hour per server as a minimum, 10% of lodging costs for group reservations). These costs are in addition to quoted prices, unless otherwise specified. Wine, beer, and other alcoholic beverage costs (and their associated taxes and gratuities) are also in addition to stated food costs. See also "The Fine Print on Rates and Policies" for additional information regarding lodging reservations and inn policies.
